Checking the presence of electric voltage on the candles can only be carried out with the candles installed on the engine. Connect a test lamp for 12 V between the spark plug terminal of the 4th cylinder and «weight». Turn the ignition key to position «Heat» (the help of a second person is required) and check if the control lamp lights up (see fig. 262). If not, you need to disconnect the wire from the engine temperature sensor. Turn the ignition key to position «Heat» (no more than 15 seconds) - The control lamp should now light up. Then (if the control lamp is on):
- disconnect the wire and connecting bus from the candle;
- connect one clip of the control lamp to the positive pole of the battery, and touch the ends of the starting candles in turn with the other. If the light comes on, the spark plug is good.
The absence of glow means a malfunction of the candle. A new spark plug is tightened with a torque of 40 Nm.
If the control lamp does not light up:
- check the spark plug fuse and replace if necessary;
- if the fuse is good, connect a test lamp to the clamp «30» starter relay.
If the light comes on, it indicates a relay malfunction, which can be checked as described below.
No glow means there is an open in the terminal circuit «30» relay and terminals «30» mounting block or the mounting block itself.
To test the glow plug relay, connect a test lamp to the clamp «86» and set mode «Heating».
The light of the lamp will indicate a break in the connection of the terminal «86» relay with «weight» or terminals «87» with a fuse or for damaged relays. The absence of lamp ignition will indicate an open circuit in the connection of the mounting block with the terminal «86» relay or damage to the mounting block.
The positions of the relay terminals are shown in fig. 263.
