Replacing the turbocharger (VW Golf 2)

The individual components of the turbocharger are shown in Figure 259. The sequence of actions for dismantling this device is as follows:

Disconnect the battery.
Remove the four nuts securing the exhaust manifold to the turbocharger and remove the gasket.
Loosen the union nuts of the turbocharger oil line. Remove the oil line from the pipeline harness.
Loosen the two clamps and remove the air duct between the intake manifold and the turbocharger.
Loosen the three clamps and remove the air duct between the turbocharger and the air filter.
Disconnect the turbocharger from the exhaust manifold.
Unscrew the union nut from the oil pan (bottom arrow figure 260) return oil line and remove the bracket on the engine body (top arrow).
Using a 12 mm wrench, loosen the four bolts securing the turbocharger housing and remove it from the exhaust manifold.
Disconnect the oil line from the lower part of the turbocharger housing and remove the gasket.
