Replacing spark plugs (VW Caddy 3)

Engines 1.4 liters



Removal



1. Remove the upper engine cover (if available). The spark plugs are located under the ignition coils with output stages (arrow).

2. Using a puller (T10094), remove the ignition coils with output stages from the spark plugs. Ignition coils with output stages must be installed in the correct mounting position.

3. Disconnect the electrical connector from the ignition coil. To do this, press the connector to the ignition coil, unlock the lock by hand, and then remove the connector.



4. Unscrew the spark plugs using a spark plug wrench.

Installation



1. Screw in new spark plugs using a spark plug wrench.

2. Connect the electrical connectors to the ignition coils with output stages and install the ignition coils in the cylinder head.

3. Align the ignition coils in their designated recesses in the cylinder head.

4. Install the ignition coils onto the spark plugs by pressing them by hand. The moment of fixation should be clearly felt.

5. Install the upper engine cover (if available).

Removal



1. Remove the upper engine cover (if available).

2. Disconnect the connectors of the injectors of the first and fourth cylinders.

3. Disconnect the spark plug caps using the installation tool (T10112).

4. Unscrew the spark plugs using a spark plug wrench.

Installation



1. Screw in new spark plugs using a spark plug wrench.

2. Then reinsert the spark plug caps using the installation tool (T10112).

3. Reconnect the connectors to the injectors.

4. Check the reliability of the fastening of the injector connectors, ignition wires and spark plug tips.

5. Install the upper engine cover (if available).
