Starter Cable — 1.1L Engine (VW Golf 2)

Removal

1. Disconnect the wire clamp from the negative battery terminal.

2. Remove the air filter.

3. Using a screwdriver, loosen the clamps that secure the cable to its metal guard and disconnect the cable from the carburetor.

4. Remove the shelf from the driver's side.

5. Remove the clamp and remove the suction tip.

6. Unscrew the ring and remove the cable from the switchboard.

7. Disconnect the electrical wires and pull the entire cable to the middle of the car.

Installation

8. Install the cable in the reverse order of removal. When installing, make sure that the cable is installed correctly and that its passages are securely fastened in the engine bulkhead wall. Finally, before installing the air filter, adjust the cable as described below.

9. Place the metal cable guard in the bracket clamp on the carburetor so that the end of the metal guard protrudes approximately 12.0 mm. Now you can tighten the metal guard clamp (Fig. 3.10).



10. Press the suction tip in completely, then pull it out 2 mm. Turn on the ignition and check if the control lamp lights up. If it lights up, you need to adjust the position of the starting equipment control switch in this position of the tip. The switch needs to be pulled out so far that the lamp goes out.



11. Insert the cable into the clamp of the trigger equipment lever and fully open the diaphragm. In this position of the lever, hold the screw of the cable clamp. The cable will protrude approximately 10 mm from the clamp bolt on the diaphragm lever (figure 3.11), and the sign 1 should be opposite the cold engine speed adjusting bolt.



12. Install the air filter.
