Removing
Work is carried out only for the replacement or subsequent repair of the brake caliper.
Note: Do not disconnect connectors for parking brake actuators. Remove wheels. Parking brake pistons must be sunk (set to start position) using -VAS 5051-. Before installing the pistons in their original position, it is necessary to pump out the brake fluid from the compensation tank. If the brake fluid is topped up as the brake pads wear, this will help prevent fluid leaks and damage caused by them. Connect tester -K4S 5051- and select function. Select with this "Electromechanical parking brake" and function "Extension and installation in the initial position of the pistons of the executive electric motor of the parking brake". Set pistons with -VAS 5051- to starting position. Unscrew the parking brake motor without disconnecting the connector. Connect the hose of the bleeder container to the caliper bleeder and loosen the bleeder. Install spacer -VAG 1869/2-. Screw on the fitting and disconnect the hose of the venting container. Unscrew the brake pipe from the brake hose and brake caliper. Unscrew both bolts securing the brake caliper, holding the guide from turning. Remove the caliper from the brake caliper.
Installation
The pads are mounted in holders on the brake caliper. Attach the brake caliper to the caliper with new self-locking bolts. The annular groove and the contact surface of the parking brake motor must be clean. Install a new sealing ring. Turn the spindle back a little with an 8 mm polygon so that the parking brake motor can be installed correctly. Carefully install the parking brake motor, properly fitting the O-ring. Turn the parking brake motor so that the holes for its mounting bolts and the threaded holes in the caliper match. In this case, it is necessary to ensure a tight fit of the parking brake motor to the brake caliper. Never press the parking brake motor into the brake caliper using the mounting bolts. Screw in the Toge bolts by hand and then tighten them. Screw the brake pipe to the caliper, Bleed the brake system. After the pistons have been extended with -VAS 5051-, the basic setting of the brake system must also be carried out. Carry out basic setting of brake system with -VAS 5051-. Install wheels. Check brake fluid level.
