Removal

Work is carried out only for replacement or subsequent repair of the brake caliper.

Instructions: Do not disconnect the connectors of the parking brake actuator motors. Remove the wheels. The parking brake pistons must be depressed (set to initial position) with -VAS 5051-. Before resetting the pistons to their initial position, the brake fluid must be pumped out of the expansion tank. If brake fluid was added as the brake pads wore out, this will prevent leaks and the damage caused by it. Connect the tester -K4S 5051- and select the function. Select "Electromechanical parking brake" and the function "Extending and resetting the pistons of the parking brake actuator motor". Set the pistons to their initial position with -VAS 5051-. Unscrew the parking brake motor without disconnecting the connector. Connect the hose of the bleeder tank to the bleed nipple of the caliper and loosen the bleed nipple. Fit the spacer -VAG 1869/2-. Screw in the nipple and disconnect the hose of the bleeder tank. Unscrew the brake line from the brake hose and brake caliper. Unscrew both brake caliper mounting bolts, holding the guide from turning. Remove the caliper from the brake caliper.

Installation

The brake shoes are mounted in the holders on the brake caliper. Secure the brake caliper to the caliper using new self-locking bolts. The annular groove and the mating surface of the parking brake motor must be clean. Install a new sealing ring. Turn the lead screw back slightly using an 8 mm Allen key so that the parking brake motor can be installed correctly. Carefully install the parking brake motor, properly installing the sealing ring. Turn the parking brake motor so that the holes for its mounting bolts and the threaded holes in the caliper coincide. In doing so, it is necessary to ensure a tight fit of the parking brake motor to the brake caliper. Never press the parking brake motor into the brake caliper using the mounting bolts. Screw in the Toge bolts by hand, then tighten them. Screw the brake line to the caliper. Bleed the brake system. After extending the pistons with the -VAS 5051-, the basic setting of the brake system must also be performed. Perform the basic setting of the brake system with the -VAS 5051-. Mount the wheels. Check the brake fluid level.
