Caliper C-38/C-II41
Removing
Attention! Jacking up the vehicle carries the risk of injury. It is recommended that you first familiarize yourself with the safety measures when installing the car on jack stands.
1. Mark the direction of rotation of the wheel with an arrow on the sidewall of the tire and loosen the wheel bolts.
2. Jack up the rear of the vehicle and remove the rear wheel.
3. Remove clamping spring 1 by prying it with a screwdriver (see illustration).
4. Press lever 2 on the caliper in the direction of the arrow in illustration 6.3 and disconnect the parking brake cable.
5. Release the parking brake cable from the holders.
6. Disconnect a brake hose from the pipeline, having unscrewed a hollow bolt and having released a hose from the holder. Plug the hose hole with a plug.
Attention! When the brake circuit is opened, brake fluid flows out. Substitute an appropriate container to collect the liquid. You can also preselect the brake fluid from the expansion tank.
7. Unscrew the upper and lower caliper mounting bolts, keeping the guide pins from turning.
8. Remove the caliper from the brake shoe guide.
9. Unscrew two bolts and disconnect directing brake shoes from a rotary fist.
Attention! The tightening torque of the shoe guide bolts is very high. It is recommended to mount the wheels and lower the vehicle before performing this operation. If the car remains mounted on jack stands, then its reliability should be ensured, and the wrench should be placed horizontally when unscrewing the bolts.
Installation
Attention! With the brake pads removed, do not press the brake pedal. In this case, when you press the pedal, the piston will be squeezed out of the brake cylinder.
10. Install the shoe guide on the steering knuckle and secure it with new self-locking bolts, tightening which should be done in two passes in a cross pattern.
- 1st pass. Tighten the bolts with a torque wrench to 90 Nm.
- 2nd pass. Tighten the bolts with a wrench by 90°.
Attention! Make a template out of cardboard or use the HAZET 6690 goniometer to maintain the required angle of rotation.
11. Install the brake pads.
12. Install the caliper on the shoe guide and secure it with new self-locking bolts with a force of 35 Nm, while keeping the guide pins from turning.
13. Fix a cable of a parking brake in the holder on a support and establish clamping springs.
14. Press the lever on a support forward and put on a cable of a parking brake.
15. Connect the pipeline and the brake hose by screwing in a hollow bolt with a force of 14 Nm.
16. Remove air from the brake system, see the relevant chapter.
17. Depress the brake pedal several times while the vehicle is stationary.
18. Adjust the parking brake, see relevant chapter.
19. Establish the removed wheel according to the marks put at removal.
20. Screw in wheel bolts and lower the car on wheels.
21. Tighten the wheel bolts in a cross pattern to 120 Nm.
