VW PASSAT models are equipped with dynamic oil pressure control. This means that oil pressure control is carried out depending on the engine speed.
If the engine speed is less than 2000 rpm and at the same time the oil pressure drops below 0.3 bar, the low oil pressure indicator flashes on the instrument panel. At engine speeds over 2000 rpm, the oil pressure in gasoline engines must be at least 1.8 bar (for 6-cylinder engine: 1.4 bar), and in diesel engines at least 0.9 bar, otherwise the warning signal flashes again and the buzzer sounds.
If a low oil pressure warning sounds and the buzzer sounds while driving, stop the engine immediately and check the oil level, top up if necessary.
If, however, the oil level is OK, but the warning signal continues to sound, then under no circumstances should you continue driving. Tow the car and, guided by the diagnostic table, identify the malfunction.
