If the engine speed drops below 2000 rpm, the oil pressure simultaneously drops and at a pressure below 0.3 bar, the oil pressure warning light flashes on the instrument panel. At engine speeds above 2000 rpm, the oil pressure must be at least 1.8 bar (diesel engine 0.9 bar), otherwise the warning light flashes again and the audible signal sounds.
If the oil pressure warning light flashes while driving and is accompanied by an audible signal, this may be due to the following reasons:
- 1. Oil level too low.
- 2. Defective transmitter wiring to warning light.
- 3. Defective oil pump.
- 4. Crankshaft main bearings failed.
1. First of all, you must immediately turn off the engine and check the oil level, and top up if necessary. Then start the engine and let it idle, the warning light should not flash. Raise the speed above 2000 rpm, the light should not flash and the buzzer should be silent. You can keep moving.
2. If the oil level is correct and at the moment there is no other way to check, in no case continue driving, but take the car in tow, then check the oil pressure.
3. With sufficient oil pressure, check both oil pressure sensors and wiring according to the wiring diagram. If no faults are found, replace the oil pressure switch.
