Oil consumption in an internal combustion engine means the oil that burns in the engine cylinders during its operation. And in no case as a result of leaks from leaks in the oil pan, cylinder head cover, etc.

Normal evaporation consumption consists of its combustion in small quantities in the engine cylinders; from the removal of combustion products and abrasion. Additionally, the oil wears out under the influence of high temperatures and pressures to which it is subjected during engine operation.

Oil consumption is also affected by external operating conditions, driving style, and tolerances in the manufacture of parts. Oil consumption should not exceed 1.0 l/1000 km. It is necessary to add oil if its level has dropped to the "Nachfull" mark - top up (topping up in this case is no more than 1 l).

Attention! For cars with a catalytic converter, pay special attention to the fact that the oil is never filled above the maximum oil level mark on the oil level indicator (oil dipstick). Excess oil, in this case, as a result of incomplete combustion, will enter the catalyst and completely destroy it.
