Mechanical steering

Removal and installation are carried out through the hole in the left wheel arch. Before installation, set the new steering gear to neutral position.
- 1 - nut, 30 Nm
- 2 - clamp for rubber support
- 3 - rubber support
- 4 — steering rod end
Since about 9/94 (chassis number 3AR099265) the tie rod end has been modified, see Figure 48-591.
- 5 — lock nut, 50 Nm
- 6 - nut, 35 Nm
Self-locking, always replace.
- 7 - steering rod right, adjustable
- 8 - steering mechanism
- 9 — front axle beam
- 10 — steering gear mounting bolts
- 11 — nut, 30 Nm
- 12 - cardan shaft for steering column
Pay attention to the design, the cardan joint with a crosspiece at the bottom has a long clamping element.
- 13 - corrugated cover for the cardan shaft
- 14 — bolt, 30 Nm
- 15 - corrugated cover
Put on and take off via the steering rod. Can be replaced with the steering gear installed.
Caution: Do not twist when adjusting wheel alignment.
- 16 — clamping ring
- 17 - left steering rod, non-adjustable
- 18 — lock nut, 50 Nm
Power steering

Note: Use only AOF 06300004 grease to lubricate the steering gear. Do not overfill the gear with grease. The air pressure equalization holes must be free, otherwise the bellows will be damaged.

Tighten the union nuts to a torque of 30 Nm.

- 17 — left steering rod, 70 Nm
- 18 — lock nut, 50 Nm
- 19 - corrugated cover
- 20 — steering rod end
Since about 9/94 (chassis number 3AR099265) tie rod end changed (3 mm longer). If a new tip is installed on a car of an earlier year of manufacture, always replace both tips. You can recognize a new tip by the cylindrical recess at the upper end of the journal.
