Attention! This chapter only describes the differences in the procedure for removing and installing the timing belt from the same procedure for 1.9-/2.0-liter diesel engines with two valves.
Please note: Cylinder #1 is located on the right side of the engine when viewed from the direction of vehicle travel.
1. Set the piston of cylinder #1 to TDC. In this case, the mark on the rear cover of the timing drive should coincide with the mark on the camshaft gear (see illustration). All further actions are performed in the same sequence as for 1.9-/2.0-liter diesel engines with two valves.
