General Provisions
All-season oils are intended for engine lubrication, which eliminates the need for seasonal (summer/winter) oil changes. The basis of all-season oils is low-viscosity single-season oil (for example, 10 W). By adding so-called "viscosity index improvers", all-season oils are stabilized in the hot state. This ensures that the engine is properly lubricated in both cold and hot conditions.
The SAE designation indicates the viscosity of the motor oil.
SAE - Society of Automotive Engineers (Society of Automotive Engineers)
For example: SAE 10 W 40 means:
- 10 - viscosity of oil in cold state. The lower this number, the lower the viscosity of cold motor oil;
- W - oil is suitable for winter operating conditions;
- 40 - viscosity of oil when hot. The higher this number, the higher the viscosity of hot motor oil.
The engine of GolDTouran cars is filled with long-term motor oil at the manufacturing plant. This oil is all-season and its service life is extended thanks to special additives.
When topping up and changing engine oil, only use extended life oil that meets the VW standard to ensure a two-year change interval.
The engine can also be filled with motor oil with a normal service life that complies with the VW standard.
In this case, the readout and command device must be reprogrammed from the extended service interval to the normal interval of 12 months/15,000 kilometers (the work is carried out in the workshop).
VW standards for extended life motor oils:
- VW-standard - Engine
- 503 00 - petrol
- 506 01 - diesel (see illustration 21.0)

Attention! It is recommended to have a can of the appropriate engine oil in reserve for vehicles with extended service intervals during long trips. If a vehicle with an extended service interval requires oil refilling and there is no required oil in reserve, then no more than 0.5 liters of VW 502 00 standard engine oil can be added (gasoline engines) or 505 00/505 01 (diesel engines/diesel engines with pump-nozzle injection). In this case, the service interval does not need to be changed.
All-season oils with normal service life
Filling with this type of engine oil is permissible in cases where the control unit has been reprogrammed to the normal service and oil change intervals of 12 months or 15,000 kilometers.
VW standards for normal service life motor oils:
- VW-standard - Engine
- 500 00, 501 01, 502 00 — petrol
- 505 01 - diesel (see illustration 21.0a)

Cars with gasoline engines
- A - all-season, easy-flowing oils of VW 500 00 standard.
- A - all-season easy-flowing oils of VW 502 00 standard.
- B - all-season oils of VW 501 01 standard.
- B - All-season oils of API-SF or API-SG specification. These oils can only be used if oils that meet the VW standard are not available.

Diesel Engine Cars
- A - all-season, easy-flowing oils of the VW 500 00 standard together with 505 00.
- B - all-season oils of VW standard 505 00, 505 01.
- B - all-season oils of VW standard 501 01 together with 505 00.
- B - All-season oils of the API-CD specification. These oils can be used for topping up only in cases where oils corresponding to the VW standard are not available.
