2. Lubricate the valve stems and guides with clean engine oil and insert the valves into the head.
3. Install the lower valve spring retainer.

4. Wipe off engine oil from the top of the valve stem. Install a plastic bushing or wrap a piece of tape around the seal grooves at the top of the valve to prevent damage to the seal edges when installing the valve stem seals.

5. Lubricate the valve stem seal with fresh engine oil and install it on the valve guide.

6. Using a pipe wrench, press the valve stem seal into place. Remove the adhesive tape from the valve stem.
7. Install the springs and the upper spring plate. While holding the valve closed, use the special tool to compress the valve spring and install the crackers. Slowly remove the valve spring compressor.
8. Repeat the operation on the remaining valves.
9. Finally, tap the end of each valve stem with a plastic or brass hammer until the valve opens slightly and all the valve components fall into place.
