The pre-heating relay for the 47 kW suction motor is located on plug 12 (arrow) at the bottom right of the central block. In the figure it is marked with the number 12.
Pre-glow relay contact arrangement
Unscrew the red and white wire from the strip fuse to the glow plug in the small fuse compartment and set it aside.
Connect the test lamp to the still attached ribbon wire to the red and white wire.
Connect the free wire of the control lamp to ground
Remove the temperature sensor connector plug at the front of the radiator hose fitting on the cylinder head and leave it hanging.
Turn the ignition key to the "pre-glow" position and observe the indicator lamp. It should light for approximately 9 seconds until the pre-glow indicator lamp on the instrument panel goes out.
After this, it burns for about 10 more seconds. (ready to launch).
Turn the ignition key back to the "off" position and then back to the "pre-glow" position.
After the indicator lamp on the instrument panel goes out, start the engine and let it idle. After the engine starts, the indicator lamp should remain lit for about 180 seconds. (subsequent heating).
Additional check: Turn the ignition key to the "off" position and then to the "pre-glow" position.
In the removed temperature sensor plug, extend the contact of the blue-white wire with some wire and short it to ground.
The indicator light should go out immediately.
Works as described above: pre-glow relay is OK.
If, despite this, operating practice indicates that the pre-heating system is not working properly, then the temperature sensor may be faulty (check as described below).
Does not work as described above: remove the left lower trim panel of the instrument panel. Check the wires according to the electrical equipment diagram. If they are OK, replace the pre-heating relay.
