The glow plug relay for the 47 kW suction motor is located on plug 12 (arrow) bottom right on the center block. On fig. marked with the number 12.
Location of contacts of the pre-glow relay
Unscrew the red/white wire from the fuse strip to the glow plug on the small fuse box and set aside.
Connect the control lamp to the still attached ribbon wire to the red-white wire.
Connect the free wire of the test lamp to ground
Remove the connector from the temperature sensor at the front on the radiator hose connection on the cylinder head and leave it hanging.
Turn the ignition key to position «pre-glow» and watch the indicator light. It should burn for about 9 seconds. until the pre-glow indicator light on the instrument panel goes out.
After that, it burns for about 10 seconds. (ready to launch).
Turn the ignition key back to position «turned off» and then back to position «pre-glow».
After the indicator lamp on the instrument panel goes out, start the engine and let it idle. After starting the engine, the control lamp should burn for about 180 seconds. (subsequent incandescence).
Additional check: turn the ignition key to position «turned off» and then to position «pre-glow».
In the removed plug of the temperature sensor, extend the contact of the blue-white wire with some wire and short it to ground.
The control lamp should go out immediately.
Operates as described above: Pre-glow relay OK.
If, despite this, operating practice indicates incorrect operation of the pre-glow system, then the temperature sensor may be faulty (check as described below).
It does not work as described above: remove the left lower trim of the instrument panel. Check the wires according to the wiring diagram. If they are OK, then replace the pre-glow relay.
