Glow plugs are used to initially preheat the fuel mixture. Glow plugs cannot be repaired, so if they fail, replace the plugs. The performance of glow plugs should be checked at a service station.
If, after unscrewing the glow plug, you see that its top is burned, then this indicates poor nozzle operation. Poorly adjusted fuel injection timing also negatively affects the life of the glow plugs. When buying a glow plug, always indicate the type of engine, in this case «1Z», and the year of manufacture of the car. Glow plug failure can usually only be noticed when the engine is cold. Fuel in cylinders with properly functioning glow plugs will ignite earlier than fuel in cylinders with bad glow plugs. According to these symptoms, a malfunctioning glow plug will be an erratic engine and blue exhaust smoke.
