Troubleshooting the Pre-Glow System (VW Golf 3)
If only one of the glow plugs is faulty, it is best to determine this when the engine is cold. While the fuel in all other cylinders has already ignited, in the cylinder with the defective glow plug this happens a little later. The engine does not run on all cylinders and emits blue smoke. It may also happen that during the warm season, the malfunction of one or more glow plugs was not noticed, the engine will start very reluctantly or not at all.
