If only one of the glow plugs is faulty, this is best determined with a cold engine. While the fuel in all other cylinders has already ignited, the cylinder with the defective glow plug does so a little later. The engine does not run on all cylinders and emits blue smoke. It may happen like that. that during the warm season, a malfunction of one or more glow plugs has not been noticed will start very reluctantly or will not start at all.
