After starting, the candle must maintain an operating temperature of 600-900°C.
Glow plug failures
When exposed to high temperatures, there is nothing surprising in that. that glow plugs can also fail. The spark plug should guarantee almost 15,000 confident engine starts. but it often happens that a candle «dies» earlier. Sometimes this is due to the fact that the end of the glow plug in the engine is really burned. Such burnt candles (the rod looks in this case as bitten) mainly due to damaged injectors. In this case, the injectors must be checked for serviceability or, if necessary, replaced. Incorrectly adjusted injection timing of the injection pump can also shorten the life of the glow plugs.
Removing glow plugs
For better access it is better to remove all high pressure fuel lines and injectors (reverse installation - with new thermal insulation see chapter «Diesel injection system»).
unscrew contact (1) for voltage supply and lead wires.
Remove glow plugs (3) ring wrench 12 mm from the hole (2).
When installing, tighten the spark plugs to 30 Nm.
