The temperature sensor can be checked in the removed state with an ohmmeter. This is enough to determine the truth:
Remove the temperature sensor plug.
Connect the two test leads to the temperature sensor.
The first goes to the contact with which the white-blue wire was connected.
The second one goes to the pin that the brown wire was connected to.
Connect the test leads to an ohmmeter and read the resistance value at two different temperatures.
At 20°C (ambient temperature) The ohmmeter should show 1000 ohms.
At a temperature of about 120°C, the ohmmeter should show about 100 ohms.
If the sensor does not respond or shows completely different values, then the sensor must be replaced.
