SymptomReason(s)
The engine gets very hotLack of coolant in the system
The drive belt is slipping (accompanied by a "squealing" sound when the engine speed increases sharply)
Internal or external clogging of the radiator
A kink in the lower hose impairs coolant circulation
The thermostat is not opening enough
The ignition regulators are not working properly (accompanied by a loss of power and sometimes a missed flash)
The carburetor is incorrectly adjusted (too lean mixture)
Partial blockage of the exhaust system
The oil level in the pan is too low
The cylinder head gasket is blown
The engine hasn't broken in yet
The brakes are sticking
The engine does not heat up wellThe thermostat is stuck in the open position
Incorrect thermostat brand (opening too early)
The thermostat is missing.
Coolant lossThe hose clamps have come loose
The hoses are damaged or leaking
The radiator is leaking
The thermostat gasket is leaking
The expansion tank cap is leaking or the cap spring is worn out
The cylinder head gasket is blown
