Pic. 305. Details of the differential case: 1 - bolt; 2 - right axle shaft; 3 - stuffing box; 4 - guide sleeve; 5 - spring; 6 - thrust washer; 7 - conical ring; 8 - adjusting washer; 9 - tapered bearing; 10 - speedometer drive gear; 11 - differential case; 12 - the crown of the driven gear of the final drive
To disassemble the main gear and differential:
Knock out both pins and remove the pin of the satellites from the housing.
Remove the differential gears from the housing along with the plastic separator. If the round nut bolts are not damaged, they should not be removed from the satellites.
The differential housing bearing can be removed with a puller. To dismantle the bearing from the side of the speedometer drive, you must first separate the worm gear of the speedometer drive with a chisel (pic. 306), then remove the bearing. The worm gear must be replaced during assembly, as it cannot be removed without damaging it.
If it is necessary to remove the ring gear of the final drive gear, it must be heated to at least 120°. Then the crown can be separated from the differential housing. This must be done carefully, as all parts are hot.
