Remove the rubber boot from the mechanism housing.
Secure the steering gear in a vice by the rack, as shown in Figure 393, and unscrew the rod.
Clean the inside of the rack from old grease, apply new grease (recommended grease AOF06300004). Screw the new steering rod into the rack, tightening it to a torque of 70 Nm.
Install the rubber boot.
If the left rod is replaced, the rod length should be adjusted to 362 mm (dimension "A" in Figure 394).
After installing the steering gear, adjust the wheel alignment and tighten both locknuts on the tie rods to a torque of 50 Nm.
