1. Raise the front of the car and put it on stands Apply the handbrake.
2. With the gear selection knob in the neutral position, mark the relative position of the longitudinal shaft and the connector, and then unscrew the connector clamp and remove the longitudinal shaft.
3. Working inside the vehicle, unscrew the gear selector knob and remove the rubber boot (photo 6.13).
4. To turn away nuts of a socket of the spherical hinge and to take out up completely the mechanism of a choice of transfers. Save spacers.
5. Disassemble the mechanism, if necessary, and check the elements for wear and damage. Replace if necessary.
6. Lubricate the joints and the bearing surface with high melting point grease, and then install them in the reverse order of disassembly. If a new connector is installed, it must be adjusted. To do this, with the connector disconnected and the gearbox in neutral position, use the help of a second person who must hold the gear selector lever in neutral (free) position between third and fourth speeds (those. halfway between forward and backward, right and left). Connect the elongated shaft to the connector, while holding the gear selector in the same position, and then tighten the clamp bolt.
