33. Clean the housing and check for damage or cracks. If there is obvious damage or cracks, the housing must be replaced. Then it is necessary to adjust the differential mechanism and the output and input shafts.

34. Check the selector shaft clearance. If there is a clear large clearance, unscrew the selector shaft lever and remove the shaft from inside the housing. Remove the spring, knock out the plug with a soft metal punch. Also knock out the bushings with a punch. It is necessary to note that they are of different lengths. The length of the outer one is 9.5 mm, and the inner one is 12 mm. Then, at surface level, insert new bushings and insert the shaft, insert the selector shaft lever and press it down to the specified torque. Insert the spring and drive in the plug.

35. Check the reverse shaft and, if it is very worn, knock it out of the housing using a soft metal punch. If the shaft is difficult to remove, heat the housing near the shaft with a blowtorch. Lubricate the end of the shaft with a preservative, then heat the housing and drive in a new shaft from the outside so that the inner end of the shaft is 83.3 mm below the sealing surface of the gear housing.

36. Check the input and output shaft bearings for wear, turn them and if a large gap or noisy operation is detected, replace them with new ones. It is also necessary to check the condition of the rear bearing cover.

37. Check that the sliders with forks are not damaged. Check the hole in the reverse gear hub and the condition of its teeth. If necessary, replace the corresponding elements with new ones.
