The mechanical cow gear type VW 084 or 020 includes four or five synchronized speeds and one reverse gear. The clutch release mechanism consists of a release lever, a clutch release bearing, in 020 boxes a pusher located in a machined input shaft. This mechanism is located under the rear cover of the gearbox. The gear change is carried out using a lever located in the floor. The lever is connected to a horizontal longitudinal shaft, which transmits the movements of the gear selector lever to the selector shaft and release lever assembly.
Differential mechanism (main gear) connected to the gearbox and is located between the main housing and the clutch housing. The oil drain and fill plugs are located in the main gearbox housing
When repairing a gearbox, you need to think about the repair costs. It may be more economical to insert parts from an old gearbox than to insert new parts into an old gearbox.
