Instruction. The failure of the device is often caused by the fact that the board is damaged, the track on it. The defects arising from high temperature are very typical.
Dismantling the conductive film
Lay down the instrument panel "front side" down.
Remove the sockets for the instrument lighting and control lamps.
Unscrew the fixing screw of the voltage stabilizer. Read more about installation later in this chapter.
If the board is changed, it is necessary to pull the stabilizer out of its contacts.
Loosen the nuts (SW7 and SW5) threaded pins of the device.
Set the spacer rings aside, then reinstall in the same place.
Unscrew the fixing screws of the board, paying attention to any insulating washer that may be present, which must be laid again in the same place.
Removing the printed circuit board in the model "Golf" release before July 1980
Unplug the clock.
Disengage the multi-pin holder behind the panel. To do this, on the narrow side, slightly remove the clip near the holder with a small screwdriver.
Carefully remove the board from the plastic clips using a screwdriver.
Replacing a printed circuit board in a model "Golf" release after August 1980 and in the model "Jetta"
Near the clock, remove the plug from the board.
Unscrew the screw near the clock.
Carefully lift the board from the connections to the diode plate. Do not pull the board, put a flat screwdriver under it and push it up.
Completely remove the board without bending it.
When you install the board, pay attention to the fact that near the clock the connecting connector lies under the contact lug. Otherwise, the board is skewed.
Replacing LEDs
Model Dashboard "Jetta" manufactured before July 1980, it is not possible to replace a single LED.
Remove fee.
Raise the middle support.
Carefully lift the black diode holder in the middle of the diode plate (pic. bottom left).
Left: use a small screwdriver to pry up the holder (2) diodes. Temperature indicator inserted (1)
Right: the elongated light diode is visible (3).
Remove the defective diode and insert a new one.
Do not confuse the diode connections: the negative terminal to the diode is slightly wider. For some versions, the mounting location is stamped on the diode plate.
To replace the LED in the switching indicator, you must first remove it from the white plate with diodes.
Left: LED test with 9V battery. Direct clamp (2) joins the plus; bent clamp (1) joins the minus.
Right: voltage regulator (4) inserted into the board with its three contacts (5); it is mounted on a cooling sheet or housing (3) tachometer.
Removing fixtures in a model "Golf" release before July 1980
Removal may vary depending on the year of manufacture and equipment variants.
Remove incandescent lamp holders, voltage regulator, board.
Loosen the 4 fixing screws in the tachometer.
Unscrew the fixing screws of the tachometer case; remove the fuel gauge.
Clock, fuel gauge and temperature gauge. Remove tachometer.
Loosen both fixing screws located on the outside of the instrument panel housing (these are the screws of the white backing plates). Also unscrew the screws connecting the clock and the base plates.
Remove the support plates together with the instruments contained in them. Be careful not to catch the arrows, as they can bend.
Removing appliances in models "Golf" And "Jetta" release after August 1980
First of all, you need to remove the devices located in the middle.
Remove fee.
To remove the temperature gauge and switches located in the middle, it is necessary to raise the middle instrument support.
Remove the complete instruments from the support.
Remove the speedometer housing.
Disconnect the speedometer shaft attachment screws, pull it out.
If necessary, remove the fuel gauge on the right.
Take off the watch.
To remove the fuel gauge and temperature gauge located on the right, unscrew the two fixing screws of the frame.
Remove the appropriate device from the support.
Removing console instruments
Remove console (see chapter "Salon").
Loosen the two knurled nuts on the back of the console.
Remove connector; remove appliances.
