Instruments with indication and warning signal lamps inform the driver about the state of his car at a given time. Many switches perform all sorts of functions. All these constructive parts will be discussed in this chapter.
Get behind the wheel and take turns checking:
Are the hours running.
Turn the ignition key to the 1st position. The battery charge control lamp should flash or flicker; oil pressure warning light; temperature warning light, brake warning light. If the engine is cold, the glow plug warning light comes on. In photocell model "Jetta" or "Golf" after August 1980, the headlight symbol should flash.
With a slight delay, the arrow of the indication of the fuel supply moves along the scale.
Press the left lever switch. Pay attention to whether the green turn signal indicator light or the high beam indicator light flashes.
Are the indicator lamps for the flashing direction indicators, heated rear window and (with the light on) fog lights or rear fog light?
During the test drive, check the operation of the speedometer; gear shift indication (if there); coolant temperature gauge.
