Remove the radio glove box.
Disconnect the speedometer shaft by hand through the cutout.
If in this way it is not possible to get to the shaft, then you need to remove the left cover of the instrument panel or the left glove box (see chapter "Salon’’).
Models manufactured before July 1981: unscrew the knurled nut on the back of the speedometer; use pliers if necessary.
After August 1981 model: disengage the plastic retaining clips on the back of the speedometer; to do this, slightly turn the shaft lock.
On a machine with a manual gearbox, in the engine compartment on the top left side behind the gearbox, unscrew the hexagon head or cross head screw (at the metal sheet).
On vehicles with automatic transmission, loosen the union nut.
On all models: remove the speedometer shaft from its holders.
Pull the shaft towards the engine compartment.
The shaft near the connection must not be oiled.
During installation, the shaft should not be strongly bent, otherwise it will soon turn out to be defective again.
Therefore, when you mount the shaft, you need to remove the instrument panel. Do not press hard on the shaft.
