Shift indicator (VW Golf 1)

The arrow and yellow LED light up in the "Golf" and "Jetta" models (which have equipment according to formula E), when the engine develops the required power with the speed not in the most favorable range. The W terminal of the generator gives the corresponding information about the speed. Information about the engine load is obtained by tilting the lever of the high-pressure fuel pump.



At too high a speed and low engine load, the control unit closes the current circuit to the LED. The LED flashes, indicating to the driver the possibility of shifting to a higher gear. The shift indicator is in the neutral position when the accelerator pedal is released (when moving downhill) and at maximum speed. This is ensured by the corresponding sensors at the high-pressure fuel pump and gearbox.
