1. Clock setting button.

2. Tachometer (engine speed x 1000 per minute). The beginning of the red zone on the tachometer indicates the maximum permissible rotation speed of the engine, which has been run in and warmed up to operating temperature, for all gears. When the tachometer needle approaches the red zone, you should shift to a higher gear, move the automatic transmission selector to position D, or release the accelerator pedal.

3. Engine coolant temperature indicator.

4. Display indications.

5. Fuel level indicator.

6. Speedometer (speed meter).

7. Reset button for the daily mileage meter (trip) indicator. Press the [0.0 / set] button to reset the meter reading.

Notice: When the engine is not warmed up, avoid high speeds and heavy engine loads.

Notice: To avoid engine damage, do not exceed the maximum permissible engine speed (tachometer needle in red zone) it is only allowed to be maintained for a short period of time.

By shifting to a higher gear without delay, you can save fuel and reduce noise from the power unit.

Display indications

Depending on the vehicle's configuration, the instrument cluster display may show a variety of information:
  • Warning and informational messages
  • Odometers
  • Current time
  • Outside temperature
  • Compass
  • Automatic gear selector position
  • Recommendations for choosing a transmission (manual transmission)
  • Multifunctional display and menu for various settings
  • Maintenance indicator
  • Second speed indication
  • Start-stop system status indication
  • Road signs recognized by the road sign recognition assistant

Warning and informational messages

When the ignition is turned on or while driving, a number of functions and the state of some vehicle components are monitored. Warning symbols signal malfunctions in the operation of components and systems (pictograms) red and yellow and text messages on the instrument cluster display, accompanied by an audible signal if necessary. Depending on the instrument cluster design, there may be different options for presenting information and warnings on the display.

Odometers

The total mileage counter records the total mileage of the vehicle over time.

The daily mileage counter (trip) shows the vehicle's mileage in km (miles) since the last reset. The last digit of the meter counts down hundreds of meters (tenths of a mile).

Outside temperature indicator

At outside temperatures below +4°C (+39°F), the temperature gauge additionally displays a "snowflake symbol" (ice warning). This icon first flashes and then remains lit continuously until the outside temperature rises above +6°C (+43°F).

When the vehicle is stationary, the independent heater is running or when driving at very low speeds, the displayed outside temperature may be slightly higher than the true value due to the influence of heat radiation from the engine.

The measurement range is from -40°C (-40°F) to +50°C (+125°F).

Compass

When the ignition is on, the instrument cluster display shows the vehicle's current compass direction. For vehicles with a navigation system, the system must be turned on to display the compass.

Automatic transmission selector positions

The selector position is indicated both on the side of the selector and on the instrument cluster display. In positions D and S, as well as in Tiptronic mode, the display can indicate the gear engaged.

Recommendations for choosing a transmission (manual transmission)

While driving, the instrument cluster display can display a recommendation for choosing the most economical gear.

Second speed indication (mph or km/h)

While driving, in addition to the speedometer readings, the speed value can be displayed on the instrument cluster display in other units (mph or km/h). To do this, go to the Second speed indication section in the Settings menu.

Vehicles without the function of displaying the menu in the instrument cluster:
  • Start the engine.
  • Press the button three times. The total mileage indicator on the instrument cluster display flashes.
  • Press the [0.0/set] button once. The total mileage indicator will be replaced by the unit "mph" or "km/h" for a short time.
  • The second speed indication is thus activated. Deactivation is carried out in a similar manner.

In versions for countries where a permanent second speed indication is required by law, it is not possible to switch off this additional speed indication.

Start-stop system status indication

The display in the instrument cluster shows information about the current status.

Carefully:
Failure to heed warning lights and text messages may result in vehicle failure while driving in traffic, an accident and serious injury.
  • Therefore, lamp signals and text messages should never be ignored.
  • Stop the vehicle as soon as it is safe to do so.
  • An immobilized vehicle poses a serious danger to all road users. If necessary, switch on the hazard warning light and display an emergency stop sign to warn other road users.
  • The vehicle must be parked at a safe distance from the traffic flow so that the exhaust system parts do not come into contact with flammable materials under the vehicle (for example, with dry grass, spilled fuel).

Carefully:
Streets and bridges can be covered with ice even when the outside temperature is above zero.
  • Ice may also occur at outside temperatures above +4°C (+39°F), when the "snowflake symbol" warning of ice is not displayed.
  • Never rely solely on the outside temperature indicator!

Ignoring warning lights and text messages may result in damage to vehicle systems.

There are different versions of the instrument cluster, so the display design and the type of information provided may vary. If the display does not provide warning and information messages, then only the control lamps will indicate any malfunctions in the vehicle.

If there are several warning messages, the corresponding icons will appear one after another at intervals of several seconds. These icons will be displayed until the causes for their appearance are eliminated.
