Instrument cluster in the front panel
1. Clock setting button.
2. Tachometer (running engine speed x 1000 per minute). The beginning of the red zone on the tachometer indicates for all gears the maximum permissible speed of the engine that has been run in and warmed up to operating temperature. When the tachometer needle approaches the red zone, shift to a higher gear, move the automatic transmission selector to position D or release the accelerator pedal.
3. Engine coolant temperature indicator.
4. Indications on the display.
5. Fuel gauge.
6. Speedometer (speed meter).
7. Button for resetting the indicator of the daily mileage counter (trip). Press the [0.0/set] button to reset the counter.
Notice: When the engine is cold, avoid high engine speeds and high engine load.
Notice: To avoid damage to the engine, the maximum allowable engine speed (tachometer needle in the red zone) it is allowed to maintain only a short time.
By shifting to a higher gear without delay, you can save fuel and reduce noise from the operation of the power unit.
Display indications
Depending on the vehicle equipment, various information can be presented on the display of the instrument cluster:
- Warning and informational messages
- Odometers
- current time
- Outdoor temperature
- Compass
- AKP selector position
- Gear recommendations (ITUC)
- Multifunctional display and menu for various settings
- Maintenance indicator
- Second speed indication
- System status indication Start-stop
- Road signs recognized by the traffic sign recognition assistant
Warning and informational messages
When the ignition is turned on or while driving, a number of functions and the status of some vehicle components are monitored. Malfunctions in the operation of nodes and systems are signaled by warning symbols (pictograms) red and yellow and text messages in the instrument cluster display, accompanied by an audible signal if necessary. Depending on the version of the instrument cluster, there may be different options for presenting information and warnings on the display.
Odometers
The total mileage counter registers the total mileage of the car for the entire time.
Trip counter (trip) shows the car's mileage in km (miles) since the last reset. The last digit of the counter counts hundreds of meters (tenths of a mile).
Outside temperature gauge
At an outside temperature below +4°С (+39 °F) additionally appears on the temperature gauge «snowflake symbol» (ice warning). This icon flashes first, then lights up continuously until the outside temperature rises above +6°C (+43 °F).
When the vehicle is stationary, the auxiliary heater is on, or when driving at very low speeds, the displayed outside temperature may be slightly higher than the actual value due to the effect of engine heat radiation.
The measurement range is from -40°C (-40 °F) up to +50°С (+125 °F).
Compass
When the ignition is on, the display of the instrument cluster shows the current direction of the car's movement according to the compass. For vehicles with a navigation system, the system must be turned on to display the compass.
AKP selector positions
The position of the selector is indicated both on the side of the selector and on the instrument cluster display. In positions D and S, as well as in Tiptronic mode, the display can indicate the selected gear.
Gear recommendations (ITUC)
While driving, the display in the instrument cluster may recommend the most economical gear selection.
Second speed indication (mph or km/h)
While driving, in addition to the speedometer readings, the speed value can be displayed on the display of the instrument cluster in other units (mph or km/h). To do this, in the Settings menu you need to enter the Second speed indication section.
Vehicles without a menu display function in the instrument cluster:
- Start the engine.
- Press the button three times. The total mileage indicator in the instrument cluster display flashes.
- Press the [0.0/set] button once. The unit of measurement will be displayed instead of the total mileage indicator for a short time «mph» or «km/h».
- Thus the second speed display is activated. Deactivation is carried out in a similar way.
In country versions where the law provides for a permanent second speed display, this additional speed display cannot be switched off.
System status indication Start-stop
The display in the instrument cluster provides information about the current status.
Carefully:
Ignoring warning lamps and text messages can result in vehicle failure while driving in traffic, an accident and serious injury.
- Therefore, lamp signals and text messages should never be ignored.
- Stop the vehicle as soon as it is safe to do so.
- An immobilized vehicle is a serious danger to all road users. If necessary, turn on the hazard warning lights and put up an emergency stop sign to warn other road users.
- The car must be parked at a safe distance from the traffic flow so that the parts of the exhaust tract do not come into contact with flammable materials under the bottom of the car (e.g. with dry grass, spilled fuel).
Carefully:
Streets and bridges can be covered with ice even at positive outside temperatures.
- Icing is also possible at outside temperatures above +4°C (+39 °F), When «snowflake symbol», ice warning is not displayed.
- Never rely solely on the outside temperature indicator!
Ignoring warning lights and text messages can damage vehicle systems.
There are various options for the instrument cluster, so the display design and the type of information presented may vary. If the display of warning and information messages is not provided, then only warning lamps report violations in the operation of the car.
If there are several warning messages, the corresponding icons appear one after the other at intervals of a few seconds. These pictograms will be displayed until the causes of their appearance are eliminated.
