The cylinder head can be removed with the engine installed and this operation is described below in general terms. If the engine has already been removed, then all the preparatory work has already been carried out.
Attention! Do not remove the cylinder head when the engine temperature is more than 40°C.
Disconnect the terminal «mass» AB wires.
Drain coolant from the cooling system (19.1.1).
Disconnect the coolant hoses from the cylinder head.
Disconnect all electrical connections on the cylinder head.
Remove the air filter:
Pic. 390. To remove the air filter, disconnect: 1 - a hose going to the vacuum regulator of the exhaust gas recirculation system; 2 - mass air flow sensor; 3 - air intake; 4 - inlet hose
- disconnect hose 1 from the air filter housing (pic. 390), going to the vacuum regulator of the exhaust gas recirculation system;
- Disconnect the plug connector of the mass air flow sensor 2;
- disconnect the air intake sleeve 3;
- unscrew the three spring clamps securing the air filter cover;
- Disconnect the inlet hose 4 from the front of the vehicle and remove it from the air filter housing.
Pic. 391. Removing the engine cover: 1 - charge air hose; 2 - plug
Remove the engine cover and disconnect the charge air hose. Remove plug 2 (pic. 391) and spring clip. Press the cover in the direction of the arrow and disconnect the charge air hose 1 from the intake manifold.
Pic. 392. Removing the cylinder head cover: 1 - hose; 2 - safety caps; 3 - spring clamp
Remove the cylinder head cover (the crankcase ventilation housing remains on the cylinder head). Disconnect hose 1 (pic. 392) from the cylinder block cover, loosen the spring clamp 3 of the inlet hose and disconnect the hose. Remove protective caps 2 (two are shown by arrows) and unscrew the three nuts located under them. Remove the cylinder head cover.
To dismantle the engine, it is necessary to lift the engine, remove the front hydraulic engine mount, engine mount clamp and remove the toothed belt. To do this, secure the engine with sling loops and raise it with a hoist in such a way as to unload the engine mount. Unbolt the engine mount from the hydraulic mount (2 bolts) and from the engine mount clamp (3 bolts). Make sure the motor is securely mounted in the hanging position.
Raise the front of the car and remove the crankcase protection. Disconnect the power steering pump line bracket (1 bolt).
Pic. 393. Turn away bolts 1 and 2
Loosen the engine mount clamp from the front of the engine (pic. 393). After unscrewing the bolts, immediately lower the car onto the wheels.
Remove the V-ribbed belt and the upper safety cover of the toothed drive belt.
Remove the toothed belt as described in the appropriate section.
Disconnect all pipelines of system of injection which are connected with the pipelines fixed on a body and plug them.
Disconnect the exhaust pipe from the turbocharger.
Disconnect the oil line going to the turbocharger.
Remove or bend aside the cold start link.
Pic. 382. The order of unscrewing the bolts of the cylinder head. When installing the cylinder head, tighten the bolts in reverse order
In the order indicated above (pic. 382) unscrew the cylinder head bolts with a hex key, remove the bolts and remove the cylinder head. Remove the cylinder head gasket.
