Removal the cylinder head from the engine installed on the vehicle (VW Golf 2)

To remove the cylinder head, it is not necessary to remove the engine from the car. If the engine has already been removed, you can skip the description of the first operations.

Disconnect the battery.

ATTENTION! Do not proceed with dismantling the cylinder head if the engine temperature is above 40°C.

Remove the turbocharger.

Drain the cooling system.

Disconnect the cooling system hoses and electrical wires leading to the cylinder head.

Disconnect and plug all fuel lines connected to the fuel hoses attached to the body. Remove the intake and exhaust manifolds.



Using a special key, loosen the cylinder head mounting bolts in the reverse order to that shown in Figure 182. Remove the bolts and remove the cylinder head. Remove the gasket. The bolts and gasket cannot be reused.
