Pic. 3.73. Automatic transmission components installed on the car: 1 - automatic transmission control unit; 2 - engine control unit; 3 – multifunctional sensor; 4 - distribution module; 5 - wiring harness, 8 pin; 6 – working fluid temperature sensor; 7 - wiring harness, 14 pin; 8 - 1st oil pressure sensor; 9 - 2nd oil pressure sensor; 10 - speed sensor at the gearbox input; 11 - speed sensor at the output of the gearbox; 12 – electromagnet of blocking of the lever of the selector; 13 - sensor of the Tiptronic system; 14 - power supply relay cl. 50; 15 - diagnostic block; 16 - selector position indicator
Automatic transmission components installed on the vehicle are shown in Figure 3.73.
Automatic transmission control unit
Pic. 3.74. Automatic transmission control unit
The control unit is located on the front left wheel arch (pic. 3.74).
To dismantle or install it, you must remove the front fender locker.
Multifunction sensor
Pic. 3.75. Multifunction sensor
The multifunction sensor is located on the top of the gearbox (pic. 3.75).
Distribution module
Pic. 3.76. Distribution module
The distribution module is screwed to the gearbox housing from below and is covered by an oil pan (pic. 3.76).
The distribution module contains solenoid valves as well as pressure control valves.
Wiring harness, 8 pin
Pic. 3.77. Wiring harness, 8 pin
Wiring harness attaches to transmission junction box (pic. 3.77).
Wiring harness, 14 pin
Pic. 3.78. Wiring harness, 14 pin
Wiring harness attaches to transmission junction box (pic. 3.78).
1st oil pressure sensor and 2nd oil pressure sensor
Pic. 3.79. Oil pressure sensors:
1 - 1st oil pressure sensor; 2 - 2nd oil pressure sensor
These sensors are not installed in all transmissions (pic. 3.79).
In transmissions equipped with these sensors, they are located in the distribution module.
Speed sensor at gearbox inlet and speed sensor at gearbox outlet
Pic. 3.80. Speed sensors:
1 - speed sensor at the gearbox input;
2 - speed sensor at the output of the gearbox
The sensors are located above the distribution module in the gearbox housing (pic. 3.80).
Tiptronic sensor
Pic. 3.81. Tiptronic sensor
Tiptronic sensor integrated in the gearshift lever (pic. 3.81).
On vehicles with a multifunction steering wheel, the buttons on the steering wheel with their wiring are also subject to check.
Diagnostic block
Pic. 3.82. Diagnostic block
The diagnostic block is installed on the left under the trim on the driver's side (pic. 3.82).
