Contents: Selector lever in position "P",…↓ Selector lever in position "N",…↓ Selector lever in the "Tiptronic"…↓ Selector position indicator ↓
When the selector is in positions "R", "D" and "S", the starter must be locked.

On vehicles with the steering wheel on the right side, the starter can be turned on in the selector position "P" and "N" only if the button on the selector handle is not recessed.

When driving at a speed greater than 5 mph and the selector lever is shifted to the "N" position, the selector lever lock solenoid should not operate and lock the selector lever. The selector should freely move into the driving positions.

When the selector lever is moved to the "N" position at a speed of less than 5 km/h (the car is practically standing still), the lever locking solenoid should only operate after approximately 1 s. The selector lever should only be moved out of the "N" position when the brake pedal is pressed

Selector lever in position "P", ignition on

Brake pedal not pressed:

The selector lever does not move out of the "P" position, even when the release button is pressed. The selector lever lock solenoid locks the lever.

Brake pedal pressed:

The selector lever lock solenoid releases the lever. The selector can then be set to the drive position. Slowly shift the selector lever from position "P" to position "S"; while doing this, check whether the indication on the instrument panel corresponds to the position of the selector lever.

Selector lever in position "N", ignition on

The selector lever cannot be moved out of the "N" position, even when the release button is pressed. The selector lever lock solenoid locks the lever.

The selector lever lock solenoid releases the lever, allowing the selector to be set to the drive position.

Selector lever in the "Tiptronic" position

Place the selector lever in the slot for operation in Tiptronic mode.

Instead of the letter "D" in the gearshift cover, the "+" and "–" symbols should light up.

When moving the selector lever into the slot for operation in Tiptronic mode, the letters "P" "R" "N" "D" "S" on the indicator in the instrument cluster should change to numbers "6" "5" "4" "3" "2" "1".

Selector position indicator

If all the icons on the selector lever position indicator light up at once, this indicates that the gearbox is operating in emergency mode.
