Checking the selector lever cable (VW Passat B6)

To check the free movement of the selector lever cable, it must be disconnected from the gearbox and the disconnected end placed so that it does not touch anything.

Move the selector to different positions, then reconnect the cable.

After this, it is necessary to adjust the selector lever cable.

Do not lubricate the cable connection area.

Set the selector lever to position "P".



Press cable 1 away from gear shift control shaft lever 3 using key 2 (Fig. 3.84).

Pull the cable out of the support by squeezing the clamps.

Move the selector lever from position "P" to "S" and back to position "P" several times.

The selector lever should move freely.

Connect the cable.

Adjust the cable.
