Correct adjustment of the selector cable is essential for the proper operation of the automatic transmission, so carefully follow the instructions below. Release the clamp securing the end of the cable to the selector lever on the transmission (drawing K:1, K:2). Move the selector lever to the "P" (Park) position and make sure it locks firmly. Push the transmission lever to the left to the "P" position and tighten the cable clamp.
Check the cable adjustment. To do this, set the selector handle to the "N" position, bring the idle speed to 1000-1200 rpm, press the brake pedal and do the following:

- a) Move the handle to the "R" position, you should feel the gear engage and the engine speed drop.
- b) Move the handle back to the "P" position, the engine speed should increase again, which indicates that reverse gear is disengaged Move the handle towards the "R" position until it stops in the lock (without pressing the safety button on the handle) — engine speed should not drop.
- c) Repeat test (a).
- d) Move the handle to the "N" position, which should disengage the gear and increase engine speed.
- d) Move the selector lever to position "D", the gear should be engaged again and the engine speed should decrease.
