Tools and equipment (VW Golf 1)

In addition to the basic set of tools described in Chapter "Basic rules for carrying out work", to perform the operations described in this chapter it is useful to have the following:

• A large tray (trough) and a funnel for draining and pouring oil into the transmission.
• Tester and test lamp - to check the starter interlock switch.
• An automatic transmission is a very heavy unit, significantly heavier than a conventional manual transmission, so when removing the transmission from the car you will need a good mobile jack and large stands to securely lift and fix the car (see chapter "Basic rules for carrying out work").
