Note: If a large amount of metal chips or signs of wear are found in the engine during repair, this may be due to damage to the crankshaft bearing and connecting rod. To avoid subsequent damage, the following must be done after repair.
Thoroughly clean the lubrication channels
Replace oil injection nozzles
Replace oil cooler
Replace oil filter element
Removing
Set the engine to the TDC position of the first cylinder.
Remove the toothed belt.
Drain the engine oil.
Remove the oil pan.
Remove the sealing flange.
Unscrew the fixing bolts and remove the trim.

Press the chain tensioner guide with a screwdriver in the direction of the arrow and lock the chain tensioner with the locking pin (pic. 2.323).
Unscrew the fixing bolts 1 and 3 of the chain tensioner.
Unscrew the fixing bolt 2 and remove the chain tensioner.

Remove circlip 1 with circlip pliers (pic. 2.324).
Screw the M3 bolt into the drive shaft 2 and remove it from the oil pump.
Remove the suction pipe from the oil pump.

Unscrew the fixing bolts of the oil pump and remove the oil pump down (pic. 2.325).
Installation
Note: Before installing, check for fitted bushings in the balance shaft module.
Install the oil pump and tighten the mounting bolts to the correct torque.
- M6 - 10 Nm.
- M7 - 13 Nm +1/4 rev. (90°) (replace).
Install the suction tube and tighten the fixing bolts to the appropriate torque.
- M6 - 10 Nm.
- M8 - 20 Nm +1/4 rev. (90°) (replace).
Install the chain tensioner.
First tighten fixing bolt 2 with a torque of 20 Nm, then fixing bolts 1 and 3 with a torque of 10 Nm (pic. 2.323).
Press the chain tensioner guide with a screwdriver in the direction of the arrow to unload the chain tensioner.
Remove the lock pin from the chain tensioner.
Note: Install the cover bolts using threadlocker.
Install the trim and tighten the bolts with a torque of 6 Nm.
Install the sealing flange.
Install the oil pan.
Install the toothed belt.
Removal and installation of the oil pump (with balance shaft module driven by spur gear)
Removing
Remove the oil pan.
Remove circlip 1 using circlip pliers.
Screw in the M3 bolt 2 and remove the drive shaft from the oil pump.
Unscrew bolt 4 and remove the inlet pipe from the oil pump.

Unscrew bolts 3 and 5, remove the oil pump (pic. 2.326).
Attention: Do not loosen the bolt on the intermediate gear.
Installation
Installation is carried out in the reverse order, taking into account the following.
Note: Replace the O-ring.
Note: Replace damaged or overtightened circlip
Note: The circlip must be in contact with the seating surface at the base of the groove.
Note: Before installing the oil pump, check that the two dowel pins are present.
Install the oil pan.
