Note: If a large amount of metal shavings or wear marks are found in the engine during repair, this may be due to damage to the crankshaft and connecting rod bearings. To avoid further damage, the following must be done after repair.
Clean the lubrication channels thoroughly
Replace oil injection nozzles
Replace the oil cooler
Replace the oil filter element
Removal
Set the engine to the TDC position of the first cylinder.

Remove the timing belt.
Drain the engine oil.
Remove the oil pan.
Remove the sealing flange.
Unscrew the mounting bolts and remove the cover.

Press the chain tensioner guide with a screwdriver in the direction of the arrow and lock the chain tensioner with the locking pin (fig. 2.323).
Remove chain tensioner mounting bolts 1 and 3.
Unscrew the mounting bolt 2 and remove the chain tensioner.

Remove snap ring 1 using snap ring pliers (fig. 2.324).
Screw bolt M3 into drive shaft 2 and remove it from the oil pump.
Remove the suction tube from the oil pump.

Remove the oil pump mounting bolts and remove the oil pump downwards (fig. 2.325).
Installation
Note: Before installation, check for proper fitting bushings in the balance shaft module.
Install the oil pump and tighten the mounting bolts to the appropriate tightening torque.
- M6 - 10 Nm.
- M7 - 13 Nm +1/4 rev (90°) (replace).
Install the suction pipe and tighten the mounting bolts to the appropriate tightening torque.
- M6 - 10 Nm.
- M8 - 20 Nm +1/4 rev (90°) (replace).
Install the chain tensioner.
First tighten mounting bolt 2 to 20 Nm, then mounting bolts 1 and 3 to 10 Nm (fig. 2.323).
Press the chain tensioner guide with a screwdriver in the direction of the arrow to relieve the chain tensioner.
Remove the locking pin from the chain tensioner.
Note: Install the cover bolts using thread locking compound.
Install the cover plate and tighten the bolts to 6 Nm.
Install the sealing flange.
Install the oil pan.
Install the timing belt.
Removing and installing the oil pump (with a balance shaft module with a cylindrical gear drive)
Removal
Remove the oil pan.
Remove snap ring 1 using snap ring pliers.
Screw in the M3 2 bolt and remove the drive shaft from the oil pump.
Unscrew bolt 4 and remove the inlet pipe from the oil pump.

Unscrew bolts 3 and 5, remove the oil pump (fig. 2.326).
Caution: Do not loosen the bolt on the intermediate gear.
Installation
Installation is carried out in reverse order, taking into account the following.
Note: Replace the O-ring round section.
Note: Replace damaged or overtightened snap ring
Note: The retaining ring must be in contact with the seating surface at the base of the groove.
Note: Before installing the oil pump, check that the two mounting bushings are present.
Install the oil pan.
