To remove the intermediate shaft, the engine must be removed from the vehicle. To remove the intermediate shaft, the drive 12 (Fig. 69) of the oil pump must be removed, since the pump is driven by the intermediate shaft.

After removing the timing drive parts (Fig. 91), the intermediate shaft becomes easily accessible, its mounting bolts can be unscrewed and the shaft removed.

The oil pump is installed in the reverse order of disassembly. It is necessary to ensure that there is an adjustment mark on the shaft guide ring. The ring should be screwed in such a way that the adjustment mark is at the top, otherwise it will not be possible to properly adjust the timing mechanism drive.
