Removal
Remove the sound insulation.
Place an oil suction device under the engine and drain the engine oil.
Note: Please observe the disposal regulations.
Disconnect the plug from the oil level and temperature sensor.
Remove the oil pan/transmission connecting bolts.
Unscrew the oil pan.
If necessary, remove the oil pan by tapping it lightly with a rubber hammer.
Remove any remaining sealant from the cylinder block using a flat scraper.
Remove any remaining sealant from the oil pan using a rotating brush attachment, such as a hand drill with a plastic bristle brush attachment kit.
Clean the mounting surfaces. They should be free of oil and grease.
Installation
Cut off the tube tip along the front mark (hole diameter about 3mm).
Note: Observe the expiration date of the sealant.
Note: The oil pan must be installed within 5 minutes after applying the silicone sealant.
Apply silicone sealant as shown on the clean oil pan seating surface. The sealant bead should be 2-3 mm thick.
Apply sealant to the inside of the mounting bolt holes.
Note: The thickness of the sealant bead should not exceed the above specified value, since excess sealant may enter the oil pan and clog the mesh filter of the oil pump oil intake pipe.
Fig. 2.327. Sealant application diagram
Apply silicone sealant to the clean sealing flange seating surface as shown in Figure 2.327. (The figure shows the location of the sealant harness on the cylinder block).
Install the oil pan immediately and lightly tighten all oil pan/transmission connecting bolts and all oil pan bolts. Make sure they are tight (tightness) oil pan seating on the intermediate plate/gearbox flange.
Note: When installing the oil pan with the engine removed, make sure the oil pan is tightly (hermetically sealed) was adjacent to the flywheel side of the cylinder block.
[The original information is posted on the website VWMANUAL]
Tighten the oil pan bolts in a crisscross pattern to 15 Nm.
Tighten the oil pan/gearbox bolts to 40 Nm.
Note: After installing the oil pan, allow the sealant to dry for about 30 minutes. Only then can you fill it with engine oil.
Note: Further installation is performed in reverse order.
