Disconnect the spark plug terminal or wire and connect an ohmmeter to the spark plug lead and to the threaded portion of the spark plug body, or connect a test light to the positive spark plug lead as shown in fig. 3-57. If the lamp does not light up or the ohmmeter shows «infinity». the spark plug circuit is broken and needs to be replaced. Connect an ammeter to the circuit. The total current for four candles should be 48 A. i.e. 12 Ah4. If the ammeter shows 36 A., then one candle is faulty, etc. At the same time, the battery voltage was at least 11.5 V. Remove the injectors and check the appearance of the starting plugs in each combustion chamber with the preheating system turned on. A few seconds after the preheating system is turned on, the glow plug should glow red. If there is no glow of the candle or the color of the candle differs from the others, check its connection, serviceability and resistance.
A burnt spark plug can be caused by a bad injector. When head burn is detected «1» (pic. 3-58) candles or coils «2» replace the spark plug and check the fuel spray cone and injector leaks of the same cylinder.
