If the cold engine does not start, check the voltage at the battery terminals. If the voltage is less than 12 V, recharge the battery. Check the voltage supply to the starting plugs. Connect a voltmeter to the negative terminal and the terminal of the starting plug, setting the instrument and starter switch to the "Pre-start heating" position (Fig. 3-56). The voltage should be close to the battery voltage: 11-14 V. If the voltage is less than 11 V, this means that the resistance in the circuit or in the control device is too high.
