The cooling circuit of the air conditioner operates only when the engine is running, at an outside air temperature of +5°C and in fan operation mode from 1 to 4.
When the air conditioner is turned on, not only the temperature inside the cabin decreases, but also the humidity of the air. Thus, the comfort of passengers in the car is increased and fogging of the windows is prevented.
Air conditioning controls
Knob A - Fan mode switch
4 fixed modes can be set (speed) fan operation. In handle position 1, the fan and air conditioner are off. To stop the flow of outside air into the passenger compartment, press button E (air recirculation mode).
Knob B - Temperature controller
Turning it clockwise increases the temperature, turning it counterclockwise decreases it. When the air conditioner is turned on, turning the knob counterclockwise can increase the intensity of its work.
Knob C - Air distribution regulator
Depending on the position of this handle, the air entering the passenger compartment is directed to certain ventilation grills and nozzles (see table) and drawing B31-027C.
Button D - turning on and off the air conditioner
Pressing the button turns the air conditioner on and off. When the air conditioner is running, the symbol on the button lights up "AC".
Button E - air recirculation mode
By pressing the button, the air recirculation mode is switched on and off. When the mode is turned on, the symbol on the button lights up.
It is recommended to turn on the air circulation mode only for a short time, because without fresh air coming in from the outside, when the air conditioner is turned off, the windows quickly fog up.
Note: Buttons D and E can be pressed simultaneously.
Ventilation grilles and nozzles
The temperature of the air flowing through the heater and air conditioner to the ventilation grilles is regulated using knob B, and the distribution of air flow between the grilles (nozzles) - handle C. Grilles 3 and 4 can be additionally opened and closed: by turning the handle located on the side of the grate, the grate opens, by turning it down, it closes.
To change the vertical direction of the airflow, grilles 3 and 4 can be turned up and down.
To change the horizontal direction of the air flow, you need to move the knob located in the middle of the corresponding grille.
Rear lower nozzles (at the feet of the rear passengers) nozzles open simultaneously 5.
Exemption from hoarfrost windshield and side windows:
- Set knob A to position 3
- Turn knobs B and C clockwise to the stop.
- Close grill 3.
- Warm air can additionally be directed to the side windows through grilles 4.
Protection of the windshield and side windows from fogging:
If high humidity (e.g. during rain) the windows fog up, it is recommended to set the following mode:
- Set knob A to position 2 or 3
- Handle B, if necessary, set to the middle position (heating mode)
- Set knob C to position
- Close grill 3.
- Through grilles 4, warm air can additionally be directed onto the side windows.
Rapid interior heating:
- Set knob A to position 3
- Turn knob B clockwise until it stops
- Set knob C to position
- Close grate 3
- Grilles 4 open partially or fully
Moderate interior heating
After the windows have thawed and the desired interior air temperature has been reached, the following mode is recommended:
- Set knob A to position 1 or 2
- Use knob B to set the desired heater temperature
- Use knob C to set the desired direction of warm air supply or
- If the windshield fogs up, set knob C to position
- Close grate 3
- Adjust the desired power and direction of the flow of warm air coming out of the grilles 4.
Ventilation and normal cooling
- Set the desired ventilation intensity with knob A (position 1-4)
- Set the desired temperature with knob B (to be able to heat)
- Set knob C to the desired position
- If knob C is in the position, at least one grille 3 and 4 must be open, otherwise the air conditioner may freeze.
- Press button D. The direction of the air flow can be adjusted with grilles 3 and 4.
Intensive cooling mode
- Close all windows and sunroof
- Turn knob A to position 4
- Turn knob B counterclockwise until it stops
- Set knob C to position
- Turn on the air conditioner by pressing button D
- Switch on the recirculation mode by pressing button E
- Open grids 3 and 4.
At least one grate must be open, otherwise the air conditioner may freeze.
In recirculation mode, air is sucked in from the passenger compartment, cooled and returned back to the passenger compartment. This mode cannot be set for a long time, since the ventilation of the passenger compartment does not occur.
Note: When using the recirculation mode, do not smoke in the passenger compartment, as the soot sucked in with air settles on the evaporator of the air conditioner, which leads to its rapid wear.
General instructions
At high outside temperatures and high air humidity, condensed moisture may drip from the evaporator, forming a puddle under it - this is not a malfunction and does not indicate a leak in the air conditioning system.
Knobs B and C provide smooth adjustment and can be set to any position; knob A has fixed positions 1-4.
To prevent the windows from fogging up at low speeds, always turn on the heater fan at low or medium speed.
Heating depends on the temperature of the coolant - the heater's full output can only be achieved when the engine is warm.
Exhaust ventilation is carried out through openings in the rear of the passenger compartment, access to which must be free. For this reason, in a Limousine, the gap between the luggage rack and the rear window should not be covered with luggage, and in a Variant, it is not recommended to heavily load the rear corners of the luggage compartment. In addition, on models with a folding shelf, the load must not cover the gap between the shelf and the side consoles of the shelf.
Economical use of the air conditioner
In cooling mode, the A/C compressor draws energy from the engine and thus affects fuel consumption. To reduce the time for the air conditioner to enter the operating mode, the following must be considered:
If the car interior is very hot in the sun, it is recommended to open windows and doors for a while before turning on the air conditioner to ventilate the heated air.
Do not turn on the air conditioner while driving with the windows or sunroof open.
It is desirable to bring the passenger compartment temperature to the desired value without turning on the cooling circuit of the air conditioner.
