Removing
1. Mark the direction of rotation of the wheel with an arrow on the sidewall of the tire and loosen the wheel bolts.
2. Jack up the rear of the car, place it on jack stands and, having unscrewed the fastening bolts, remove the rear wheel.
3. Fasten a suitable clamp 3 on the spring, grabbing it with its handles for at least three turns of the spring (see illustration).
Attention! In workshops, to remove the spring of the rear suspension / suspension, they use the VAG 1752/1 clamp with clamping handles VAG 1752/Za and the VAG 1752/9 extension (see 2 in illustration 10.3). For Touran vehicles, you can use the HAZET 4900-2A clamp with HAZET 4900-10 clamping handles without extension.
Attention! When compressing the spring, make sure that the coils of the spring fit snugly into the clamping handles 1 of the clamp (see illustration 10.3).
4. Compress the spring so that it can be removed, and then remove it, together with the clamp, from the wheel arch.
5. Slowly expand the spring along with the upper and lower support cups.
Installation
Attention! If the suspension spring is replaced, both should be changed, guided by the color marks. Both springs from the same manufacturer should be installed.
6. Insert the spring into the clamp and compress it.
7. Install the lower support cup on the spring so that the end of its lower coil rests on the protrusion on the cup (see arrow in illustration).
8. Install the compressed spring with the bottom cup attached. In this case, the stop of the cup should be inserted into the hole on the transverse lever 1 (see arrow in illustration).
9. Slide the top support cup onto the spring.
10. Slowly release the installed spring. When doing this, be careful not to damage the protective lacquer layer of the spring.
11. Establish a back wheel according to the marks put at removal.
12. Screw in wheel bolts and lower the car on wheels.
13. Tighten the wheel bolts in a cross pattern to 120 Nm.
