Removal
Caution: If the rear axle is removed as an assembly (it is not described here), then the car must be firmly tied to the lift so that it does not slip off the lift. Use reliable belts with a tightening lock for tying.

Remove the plugs from the side member, pull the belt with the tightening lock "2" through the holes in the side member and tighten it under the cantilever beam "1".
Safety instructions
There is a risk of accident when lifting the vehicle! Please read the section beforehand "Lifting a car".
(The information is available on the website VWmanual.ru)
Raise the car from behind onto jack stands.
To remove the left coil spring, follow these steps: remove the subsequent muffler.

Place a suitable spring compressor as close as possible to the spring coils. The illustration shows a spring compressor from the VW Group. The HAZET 4900-2A tool with the HAZET 4900-10 receivers can also be used.
Attention: When compressing, ensure that the coil spring is correctly positioned in the receivers of the "arrow" compression device.

Compress the spring so that it can be removed.
Remove the coil spring, supports and receiver "2" for the upper support "1".
Installation
Note: Replace coil springs only at the same time for the entire axle, using springs with the same color marking and from the same manufacturer.
Check if the lower galvanized support is damaged; replace the support if necessary.

Install the compressed coil spring together with the supports. The end of the spring coil "arrow" should be adjacent to the support stop.
Slowly release the coil spring and remove the spring compressor. Make sure that the outer surfaces of the spring are not damaged.
If necessary install subsequent muffler.
Lower the car.
