Removing
Automobile lift on goats and remove the wheel.
Attach a suitable jack to the shock absorber receiver and support the axle.
Vehicle with headlights equipped with xenon lamps: Disconnect the linkage of the rear sensor of the headlight beam tilt angle control system from the front axle beam.
Remove bolts -1- and nut -2-. Remove the lower shock absorber mounting bolt.
Remove shock absorber.
Defective shock absorbers must be properly disposed of, see the relevant chapter below.
Installation
Before installation, check the shock absorber, see the relevant chapter below.
Fit shock absorber and fasten with new bolts -1-. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 30 Nm, then tighten ¼ turn in the direction of tightening (90°).
Vehicle with headlights equipped with xenon lamps: before tightening, adjust the upper position of the rear sensor rod of the headlight beam angle adjustment system so that the sensor lever points back and turns upwards when the rear axle is elastically deformed.
Insert a new bolt from the inside, screw on from the outside and hand-tighten a new nut -2-, see figure S42-0040.
Ensure the same direction of rotation of the tire, screw on the wheel, lower the vehicle and only then tighten the wheel bolts in a crosswise manner to 120 Nm.
Attention: Strictly follow the instructions given in chapter «Removal and installation of a wheel».
Place a load of 90 kg in the luggage compartment directly behind the rear seat.
Before tightening the fastening bolt, align the shock absorber so that it is located at an angle a = 95°with respect to the axis of the rear axle.
