Removing
Attention: High loosening and tightening torque of the wheel hub nut! Ensure the vehicle is in a secure position on the gantry. If necessary, install the wheels and lower the vehicle before loosening and tightening the nut.
Safety note: There is a risk of accident when lifting the vehicle! You must first read the section «Vehicle lifting».
Mark the direction of tire rotation with an arrow. Loosen wheel bolts. Raise the car from behind on the goats and remove the wheel.
Attention: Strictly follow the instructions given in chapter «Removal and installation of a wheel».
Drum brakes: move the brake shoes and remove brake drum.
Disc brakes: remove the brake caliper and attach it to the body. Remove brake disc.
Lightly tap on the cam of the puller -A- to move the protective cap of the hub.
Remove the protective cap with the other side of the puller -A-. Do not damage the sensor ring on a vehicle with ABS.
Loosen the 12-point hub nut.
Attention: High loosening torque of the wheel hub nut!
Remove the hub together with the bearing from the axle axle.
Installation
Carefully push the hub together with the bearing onto the axle pin until it stops. In this case, do not warp the hub with the bearing.
Screw in a new hub nut and tighten to 175 Nm.
Attention: High tightening torque of the wheel hub nut!
Attach a new protective cap and drive it in with a suitable tube -B-. Note: A damaged cap allows moisture to pass through, which causes bearing failure.
Drum brakes: install brake drum.
Disc brakes: install brake disc and brake caliper.
Ensure the same direction of rotation of the tire, screw on the wheel, lower the vehicle and only then tighten the wheel bolts in a crosswise manner to 120 Nm.
Attention: Strictly follow the instructions given in chapter «Removal and installation of a wheel».
