Removing
1. Place the manual transmission in neutral or, on vehicles with automatic transmission, move the control lever to N and apply the parking brake.
2. Remove the cap from the wheel.
Attention! The hub bolt has a high tightening torque. In this regard, it is recommended to loosen the bolt when the vehicle is on wheels. In this case, you should ask the assistant to press the brake pedal. The final unscrewing of the hub bolt is carried out with the vehicle jacked up.
3. Loosen hub bolt 1 by a maximum of 90° (see illustration).
Attention! Do not completely unscrew the hub bolt when the vehicle is on wheels.
4. Jack up the car just enough to allow the wheel to sag freely.
Attention! Jacking up a vehicle is associated with a risk of injury, so read the safety precautions before doing any work.
5. Ask an assistant to depress the brake pedal and unscrew the bolt 1 of the hub from the shank 2 of the drive shaft (see illustration 8.3).
Attention! After disconnecting the drive shaft from the hub, the vehicle must not be moved.
Installation
Attention! The hub bolt is tightened with a large torque.
6. Screw a new self-locking bolt into the drive shaft shank in the hub and tighten to 200 Nm. In this case, the assistant must hold the brake pedal depressed.
Attention! The wheel must not be on the ground when the hub bolt is initially tightened.
7. Lower the vehicle onto the wheels and tighten the hub bolt 180°, having an assistant hold down the brake pedal.
