Pump 10 sucks oil from the oil pan through suction 9 and feeds it to the oil filter. Overload valve 11 opens when the side filter gets dirty. Oil then flows into the lubrication system past the filter through the overload valve. Overflow valve 6 protects the system from uncontrolled pressure increase. Oil pressure sensor 2 is located in the head. Engines 1.6 and 1.8 are equipped with two oil pressure sensors. One is in the oil filter bracket, and the second is in the head. In the head of engines with hydraulic tappets there is a check valve, allowing oil to remain in the tappets even after the engine is turned off.
