This effect is obtained when a large number of engine oil particles are entrained in the engine crankcase ventilation system.
The removed cup pushers are shown from all sides: 1 - cup pusher with shim removed (2); the adjusting washer lies nearby; 3 - cup pusher assembly, top view; 4 - the lower side of the cup pusher.
The particles then settle in the air filter housing and from there are sucked into the combustion chambers. Diesel engine recycles oil, noise and smoke are observed. The air filter is clogged, the mixture in the cylinders is enriched. Ingested into the engine "surplus" fuel, of course, causes a clear increase in the number of revolutions, and this phenomenon can no longer be controlled using the accelerator pedal. If the driver reacts incorrectly and disengages the clutch, the engine "spreads". The valves hit the pistons, the connecting rods break, "jams" crankshaft. Therefore, the clutch should be left engaged, the car slowed down to a stop, turn off the engine in gear. Before further driving, replace the oiled air filter element, wipe the oil in the housing. Set 1st gear, start the engine, do not press the clutch pedal, but act as a starter. Touch the brake pedal with your right foot (since the engine is probably still spinning a lot at high speeds), until the rest of the oil burns out. A blue cloud of oil from the exhaust pipe is normal. For prevention, a set of equipment should be installed (see description below).
Measures to prevent work "peddling"
As already mentioned, some engines of the first diesel series sometimes develop uncontrollable high speeds after long trips. This phenomenon can in many cases be eliminated by installing a modified crankcase ventilation system. Tool kit (N det.068198999) consists of a special hose (pic.) and a modified flange, which is installed at the engine crankcase instead of the original flange.
Lower end of the special branched hose (2) reinforced at the modified flange (1). free state (3) designed to connect the hose coming from the vacuum pump.
