A damaged piston cup in a disc brake caliper must be replaced immediately to prevent the piston from seizing due to corrosion and dirt.
Remove brake pads.
Have an assistant gently depress the brake pedal to extend the piston.
Remove floating bracket.
Move the piston collar retaining ring. Remove cuff.
Insert the inner edge of the new seal into the extended piston.
Move the piston back.
Put the outer edge of the cuff on the bracket.
Put on the ring near the cylindrical thickening of the bracket and pull the ring on the cuff.
If you use a screwdriver for this, take care not to damage the cuff.
On floating caliper cam disc brakes: Remove the old boot.
Put on a new seal so that the outer sealing lip is near the piston.
The inner sealing lip of the cuff with a screwdriver (do not damage the cuff) insert into the groove of the mounting bracket.
Push the piston back into the caliper housing.
